Dear Church,
Let us step into this November with this prayer from Psalm 143:10.
Psalm 143:10 ESV
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!
We don’t always know what to do or which way to go — but when we sincerely ask God, He is faithful to teach us His way. In our weakest and lowest moments, it feels natural to cry out for His guidance. Yet, the true test of humility is to seek His direction even in our highest moments, when everything seems to be going well.
David modeled this beautifully. Whether he was a humble shepherd in the fields or a mighty king ruling over Israel, his heart’s cry remained the same: “Teach me your way, O Lord.” His greatness was not just in his victories, but in his willingness to be taught by God in every season of his life.
To be teachable is to be humble before God. A teachable heart welcomes correction and responds to the leading of the Holy Spirit. When you are teachable, you will be sensitive to God’s warnings and avoid paths that lead to destruction. You will walk in the safety of His guidance.
Hebrews 13:21 NLT
“May he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him.”
John 16:13 NLT
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.”
The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to lead us in truth — to teach us God’s ways, to help us discern whom to trust, and to direct our steps toward our divine destiny.
When we look at David’s life in 2 Samuel 5, we see how his anointing grew in stages:
First, he was anointed to lead his father’s sheep and his household.
Then, he was anointed to rule over Judah.
Finally, he was anointed to reign over all Israel.
With every increase in anointing came new battles and greater responsibilities. Even then, David never assumed he knew what to do. He always inquired of the Lord.
2 Samuel 5:19 NLT
“David asked the Lord, ‘Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?’ The Lord replied to David, ‘Yes, go ahead. I will certainly hand them over to you.’”
David did not fight based on his own experiences or strength — he fought according to God’s will. And because he sought God’s direction, he succeeded in every battle that was worth fighting.
As God’s promises draw near, the battles may intensify. But like David, let’s pause and ask:
Lord, teach me Your way in this situation.
Teach me to have greater faith to believe what You have promised.
Teach me to stand boldly on Your Word.
Every step we take under His guidance brings us closer to the fulfillment of His promises.
May God help you tap into that new level of anointing in this month.
May you be a testimony that is aligned with the will of God.
Blessings!
Pastor.
